"Design a flower packaging solution for parcel delivery that improves undamaged delivery while providing a premium experience."
Arciform. Not just a round box.
In September 2019, together with 15 other students, I started my Bachelor thesis for Chrysal International. During this three month period, I developed Arciform; a a not-so-normal packaging solution for parcel flowers. The box is made from special bendable cardboard, which gives a premium look while providing up to 3x more strength, reducing delivery damage. After finishing my thesis, I started as a R&D Junior at Chrysal International for another 3 months to further develop Arciform into a market ready product.

A premium eye-catcher
Round cardboard boxes are not very common in parcel delivery world. By using a special, flexible cardboard type, Arciform gets a premium, friendly look resembling the bouquet shape. The curvature of the box is eye-catching and perfect for luxury presents. But that's not everything.

Up to 3x stronger
In the analysis phase, I found that larger online flower shops pay up to €100.000,- yearly on delivery damage. Arciform could solve this problem. The round shape and edges of the box increase the compression strength with up to 300%, making it more bump resistant.
Zipper
The box is opened using a zipper strip. This does not only provide a quick & easy unpacking, but also contributes to receiving experience and flower display.

Making Arciform ready for market

Redesign
To be approved by the postal distribution centre's, a small concession was made on the roundness of the box. This way, the premium look and better strength was combined with a smooth delivery process.

Business Case
Next to redesigning the box, I worked on building a business case, determining the supply chain and pitching the idea in England, Germany and the Netherlands.
